EMERGENCY/CRISIS MANAGEMENT
EMERGENCY DRILLS
The Acadia Parish School Board shall require special drill activities be planned by the principal and faculty of each school to assure orderly movement and evacuation of students to the safest area in the event of an emergency. Such activities shall be conducted in accordance with regulations and procedures developed by the Superintendent and staff.
Fire Drills
Frequency
A fire drill should be conducted monthly in each school, with two (2) fire drills conducted the first two weeks of school. One bus emergency evacuation drill during the first six weeks of each semester shall be held in each school of the school district. A written report concerning all drills and evacuations shall be sent to the Superintendent within five (5) working days after each drill.
Every separate administration building shall conduct at least two (2) fire drills each fiscal year. A written report of each drill shall be sent by the building administrator to the Superintendent within five (5) working days after each drill.
Method

The principal shall furnish specific instructions to teachers and students as to routes and manner of exit during fire drills. Alternate routes shall be given and different exits shall be blocked during drills from time to time. These instructions shall be posted on the bulletin board of each classroom.
Fire drills shall be held without warning.

The principal shall keep on file a record of the days and time of day on which fire drills are held in the school and must submit a fire drill report to the Superintendent each month on the appropriate form.
Tornado Drills
Frequency
A tornado drill shall be held in each school at least once each semester and more often if deemed necessary.
Reports
The principal shall keep on file a record of the days and time of day on which tornado drills are held in the school and must submit a tornado drill report to the Superintendent once a semester on the appropriate form.
CRISIS MANAGEMENT
