Superintendent Richard presented medals of recognition to the following students:

Braxtyn Sonnier, Church Point Elementary 4th grade student, placed 2nd in the National Jr Beta Competition at the Louisiana State Convention in Mathematics. Braxtyn has qualified to travel to Oklahoma City, OK to compete against other 4th graders from across the nation in the area of Mathematics.

 

Jasmine Gibson, a 7th grade student at Church Point Middle School, is a co-captain on the cheer-leading team, and a BETA club member who will be going to state convention to compete with other middle school students.  She plays clarinet in the intermediate band where she is a section leader for the woodwinds.  Jasmine scored “Above Proficient” at the University of Louisiana Middle School Band Competition.  

 

Lindsey Lyons, Church Point High School student, placed 1st in Public Speaking at the Louisiana Beta Convention with her speech on texting and driving.

 

William Doucet, Church Point High School student, has won Microsoft Office Specialist State Champion for Louisiana and is a Fall Qualifier for the MOS National Championship.    

 

Winners of the Inaugural APSB Parish-Wide Cursive Handwriting Contest are: Jackson Howell from Evangeline Elementary, Julian Dudoet from Morse Elementary, Daniel Fontenot from Egan Elementary and Midland High School's Makenzie Thibodeaux.  

 

Recognition: 1.7 Special recognition and commendations: National School Counseling Week

 

Superintendent Richard expressed his appreciation of the hard work and dedication of our School Counselors.  The Board proclaimed February 4-8, 2019 as National School Counseling Week in Acadia Parish.

Superintendent Richard commented that January is usually a low sales tax collection month. He mentioned the importance of our tax department keeping collection accounts current.

Superintendent Richard thanked the parents, students and faculty for attending the meeting. 

Special recognition and commendations of students and/or faculty will be a standing item at each board meeting.

Students of the Year will be recognized at the March Board meeting.
