Information: 1.6 Receive comments from representatives of Entergy

Jason with Johnson Controls, introduced representatives with Entergy, who presented a rebate check to the school board for $191,632 for the energy efficiency savings from the projects done in the schools, etc.

 

Recognition: 1.7 Recognize Students of the Year

Mr. Derousselle thanked the parents and students for coming. He introduced and congratulated the parents and students who were nominated from each school.


Sarah Henry, Mire Elementary, Hannah Henderson, Branch Elementary, and Wyatt Manuel, Iota High were the winners to represent Acadia Parish at the State Level. He presented them with plaques and a reception was held for winners and all students nominated

 

Recognition: 1.8 Recognize Church Point High wrestlers, parents, and coach

Coach Bergeron, CPH wrestling coach, presented two wrestlers that placed in the state tournament

 

2. ACTION ITEMS

 

Action: 2.1 Consider recommendation of the Personnel, Insurance & Curriculum committee regarding cell phone policy JCDAE

On a motion by Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Simar and carried, the Personnel, Insurance & Curriculum committee recommended the changes to cell phone policy JCDAE

 

Motion by James Higginbotham, second by Gene Daigle.

On a motion by Mr. Simar, seconded by Mr. Daigle and carried, the Personnel, Insurance & Curriculum committee recommended the changes to dress code policy JCDB

Action: 3.1 Consider recommendation of the Budget and Finance Committee to approve the ASSIST Agency to sponsor the summer feeding program in Rayne

On a motion by Mr. Lalonde, second by Mr. Higginbotham, and carried, the Budget and Finance Committee recommended approval of the ASSIST Agency's request to sponsor the summer feeding program in Rayne

 

Motion by John Suire, second by Delo Hebert.

Action: 3.2 Consider the recommendation of the Budget and Finance Committee to affirm the 2016-2017 General Fund Budget adoption calendar with adjustments

On a motion by Mr. Higginbotham, second by Mr. Lalande, and carried, the Budget and Finance Committee recommended affirming the previously adopted 2016-2017 General Fund Budget calendar with adjustments

Action: 3.3 Consider recommendation of the Budget & Finance committe regarding the employment of special counsel

On a motion by Mr. Lalande, second by Rev. Proctor, and carried, the Budget and Finance Committee approved the employment resolution recommendation to employ special counsel for sales and use tax matters

Action: 3.4 Consider recommendation of the Budget & Finance committee declaring one of the $1,500 buses as unusable and surplus due to a $10,000 repair cost

On a motion by Rev. Proctor, second by Mr. Higginbotham, and carried, the Budget and Finance Committee recommended declaring school bus VIN #1GBL7T1C4XJ107984, a 2000 GMC with 125,000 miles, purchased for $1,500 and would cost $10,000 to repair due to engine failure, as unusable and surplus wherein permission is granted to advertise for bids and secure a salvage company quote for the purpose of disposing of said bus.

On a motion by Mr. Daigle, seconded by Mr. Simar and carried, the Personnel, Insurance & Curriculum committee recommended the "Final Rule Eligibility Criteria: Requirements for Early Head Start and Head Start"
