CROWLEY, LOUISIANA

The Acadia Parish School Board met in SPECIAL SESSION on this the 26th day of January 2005, at 5:00 p.m., in Crowley, Louisiana, with President Lyle C. Johnson presiding, pursuant to the following notice given in writing to each and every member thereof and duly posted in the manner required by law, viz.
January 20, 2005
Dear Board Member:
By virtue of the authority vested in me by law by reason of the fact that it is deemed necessary, advisable, and to the public interest that the Acadia Parish School Board is called to a SPECIAL SESSION; therefore, I, Lyle C. Johnson, President of the Acadia Parish School Board, do hereby give notice that a special meeting of the said Board will be held at its domicile in the City of Crowley, Louisiana, at 4:55 p.m., on Wednesday, January 26, 2005, for the purpose of discussing, and, if deemed advisable, acting upon the following proposition, to wit:
1. Appoint a Principal at Martin Petitjean Elementary School.

1) President Johnson called the meeting to order. Members present were Mrs. Ezora J. Proctor, Mr. Lynn Shamsie, Mr. Roland J. Boudreaux, Mr. Gene Daigle, Mr. Shirley Vige’, and Superintendent John E. Bourque, Secretary-Treasurer. Dr. Robert McManus was absent.
2&3) Mrs. Ezora Proctor led the prayer and Ms. Elizabeth, an aide at Ross Elementary, led the Pledge of Allegiance.
4) Reading of the letter calling for Special Session.
Mr. Johnson read the letter calling for a special session.
SPECIAL SESSION ITEM(S):
1) Appoint a Principal at Martin Pettitjean Elementary School
There were four candidates for the position of Principal at Martin Petitjean Elementary School and Superintendent Bourque recommended Mr. Thomas J. Sonnier for the principalship. Upon motion by Mrs. Proctor, seconded by Mr. Vige’, and carried by a roll call of 4 to 2, Mr. Sonnier was appoint Principal at Martin Petitjean Elementary School under a contract beginning January 11, 2005, through June 30, 2007.
YEA: Proctor, Shamsie, Daigle, Vige’
NAY: Quebodeaux, Boudreaux
ABSENT: McManus
Upon motion by Mrs. Proctor, seconded by Mr. Shamsie, and carried by a unanimous voice vote, Routine Item 1a (CONSIDER AUTHORIZING THE SUPERINTENDENT TO ADVERTISE FOR AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT CROWLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL) was added to the agenda.
1a) Consider authorizing the Superintendent to advertise for an Assistant Principal at Crowley Middle School.
Upon motion by Mrs. Proctor, seconded by Mr. Daigle, and carried by a unanimous voice vote, Superintendent Bourque was authorized to advertise for an Assistant Principal at Crowley Middle School.
ADJOURNMENT:
Upon motion by Mr. Daigle, seconded by Mr. Vige’ and carried by a unanimous voice vote, the meeting adjourned at 5:07 p.m.
