CROWLEY, LOUISIANA

                The Acadia Parish School Board met in SPECIAL SESSION on this the 19th day of March 2003, at 5:00 p.m., in Crowley, Louisiana, with Vice President Lyle C. Johnson presiding, pursuant to the following notice given in writing to each and every member thereof and duly posted in the manner required by law, viz.

 

February 14, 2003

Dear Board Member:

By virtue of the authority vested in me by law by reason of the fact that it is deemed necessary, advisable, and to the public interest that the Acadia Parish School Board is called to a SPECIAL SESSION; therefore, I, John H. Quebodeaux, president of the Acadia Parish School Board, do hereby give notice that a special meeting of the said Board will be held at its domicile in the City of Crowley, Louisiana, at 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 19, 2003, to:

 

1.  CONSIDER SUPERINTENDENT’S RECOMMENDATION FOR PRINCIPAL OF CROWLEY HIGH SCHOOL.

 

2.  EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS PENDING LITIGATION, PURSUANT TO LA. R.S. 42:6.1(a)(2)CAPSB vs Folmar & Associates Ltd et al Docket No. 74607 15th JDC.

1)             Members present were Mrs. Ezora J. Proctor, Mr. Lyle C. Johnson, Mr. Lynn Shamsie, Mr. Roland J. Boudreaux, Mr. Gene Daigle, Mr. Shirley Vige’, and Dr. Robert McManus.  Also, present was Superintendent John E. Bourque.  Mr. John Quebodeaux was absent.

                Vice President Johnson called the meeting to order.

 

2,3)          Mr. Johnson led the prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.

 

4)             Reading of the letter calling for Special Session.

                Mr. Johnson read the letter calling for a special session.

 

SPECIAL SESSION ITEM:

 

1)             Consider Superintendent’s recommendation for Principal of Crowley High School.

                Superintendent Bourque reported that there were three applicants for the position of principal of Crowley High School and he recommended Mr. Steve Duplechin for the position.  Upon motion by Dr. McManus, seconded by Dr. Vige’, and carried by a roll call vote of 6 to 1, Mr. Duplechin was appointed Principal of Crowley High School.   Mr. Duplechin will begin his principalship at Crowley High School on April 7, 2003.  Mr. Duplechin was recognized and he briefly addressed the Board.

 

YEA:        Proctor, Johnson, Shamsie, Daigle, Vige’, McManus

NAY:       Boudreaux

ABSENT:        Quebodeaux

2)             Executive Session to discuss pending litigation, pursuant to LA. R.S. 42:6.1(A)(2)CAPSB vs Folmar & Associated Ltd et al Docket No.

                Upon motion by Dr. McManus, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, and carried by a unanimous voice vote, at 5:09 p.m., the Board went into Executive Session to discuss pending litigation, pursuant to LA. R.S. 42:6.1(A)(2)CAPSB vs Folmar & Associated Ltd et al Docket No.

                Upon motion by Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mrs. Proctor, and carried by a unanimous voice vote, at 5:57 p.m., the Board reconvened into special session.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

                Upon motion by Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Dr. McManus, and carried by a unanimous voice vote, the meeting adjourned at 5:58 p.m.
