                The Acadia Parish School Board met in SPECIAL SESSION on this the 20th day of November 2002, at 4:45 p.m., in Crowley, Louisiana, with President John A. Suire presiding, pursuant to the following notice given in writing to each and every member thereof and duly posted in the manner required by law, viz.

November 14, 2002

 

Dear Board Member:

 

By virtue of the authority vested in me by law by reason of the fact that it is deemed necessary, advisable, and to the public interest that the Acadia Parish School Board is called to a SPECIAL SESSION; therefore, I, John A. Suire, president of the Acadia Parish School Board, do hereby give notice that a special meeting of the said Board will be held at its domicile in the City of Crowley, Louisiana, at 4:45 p.m., on Wednesday, November 20, 2002, to:

 

1.  CONSIDER THE ISSUANCE AND SALE OF REFINANCING BONDS FOR CHURCH POINT SCHOOL DISTRICT.

1)             Members present were Mr. Lyle C. Johnson, Ms. Kitty M. Valdetero, Ms. Wadie H. Bias, Mr. Woody Marceaux, Mr. Lynn Shamsie, Mr. John H. Quebodeaux, Mr. Nolton J. Senegal, Mr. Roland Boudreaux, Mr. Rodney J. Trahan, Mr. Johnnie L. Smith, Mr. Charles F. Daigle, Mr. Shirley Vige', and Dr. Robert L. McManus.  Mr. Bill Pinac and Mr. Paul Bellon were absent.

                President Suire called the meeting to order.

 

2,3)          Mr. Senegal led the prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.

 

4)             Reading of letter calling for Special Session.

                President Suire read the letter calling for a special session.

 

SPECIAL SESSION ITEMS:

 

1)             Consider the issuance and sale of refinancing bonds for Church Point School District.

                Mr. Jerry Osborne addressed the Board.  He reviewed details of refinancing of the 1993 Series of Church Point bonds.  He reviewed the bond resolution authorizing refunding of the bonds.  Upon motion by Mr. Vige’, seconded by Mr. Smith, the Board approved issuance and sale of refinancing bonds for Church Point School District by a roll call vote of 13 to 0.

 

YEA:        Johnson, Valdetero, Bias, Marceaux, Suire, Shamsie, Quebodeaux, Senegal, Boudreaux, Trahan, Smith, Daigle, Vige’, McManus

NAY:       None

ABSENT:        Pinac, Bellon

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

                Upon motion by Mr. Trahan, seconded by Mr. Senegal, and carried, the meeting adjourned at 5:03 p.m.
